Default Over rev

We'll guys i think i might need some help here. A few weeks ago I was racing my friend's Acura type S. I was redlined on 3rd gear then I accidently shifted to 2nd gear. I immediately put the car on netural and stepped on the brake and then drove it to a parking lot. I listened to my engine and it sounded fine.

While I was going home a celica pulled up beside em and reved his engine we both went. After that I pulled aside and accidently reved my engine on first or on neutral gear to 9000rpm it bounced and then my engine just died off.

I tried to start it up but it didn't start back up. When I look at my dash board all i see is the engine light, Ebrakelight & oil light. My window, top, and head light still work but the car won't start. I took it to honda and they told me my engine is seized. They took off the oil pan and couldn't tell what was wrong unless they take the head off the car.

Honda said these are the stuff that probably will be needed to be replaced.

Head Gasket 78.55
Intake Manifold Gasket $19.57
Six Intake Valves $232.88
Six Exhaust Valves $259.20
All valves seals $90.56
Six Intake Valve guides $86.46
Six Exhaust Valves guides $86.46

Total $853.68 for parts
Labour $935
$350 for something I don't know
Total $2138 plus taxes
Total with taxes $2458.00
These prices are in canadian funds I believe it's roughly $2000 US

This is a rough estimate they gave me. They don't know the price for sure until they take the head apart to see what is really damaged.

I'm shitting my pants right now cause i don't know what is wrong with my car and if I need a head rebuild should I just take my car to a local performance shop instead of honda? Also should i build the internal up while my head's apart or should i just get it fixed? Becuase I was going to add a turbo into my s2000 next spring.

I really hope that someone on this board can tell me what's wrong with my car thanks.
Nate

If you over-revved the engine and made valve to piston contact a head rebuild is the best possible solution. Hopefully the head is rebuildable and there isn't any damage to the pistons.

You will have to wait until the head is off for a complete diagnosis, and since the engine isn't running, it's not worth doing any other diagnostics (like inspecting with a boroscope). Let us know what the dealer says - but US$ 2k sounds quite high.

If it is actually seized, you'll need way more that $2500 to fix it. Does it crank when you push the start button?
