Default Over revved ap1 what to check?

I money shifted my ap1, probably hit 10 - 10.5k for 1 second. Didn’t think much of it because the car felt fine but shortly after I’m now hearing an ever so subtle knock and I believe a slight loss in performance but this may be a placebo effect after noticing the knock. The knock is so subtle a person that doesn’t drive an s2000 regularly likely wouldn’t notice but it’s there. How likely is it that I blew the motor ? I’m flatbedding the car to a shop tomorrow, other than the valve train what else needs to be inspected?

I'm gonna guess you damaged some valvetrain components. Likely a cracked retainer(s). Bottom end is probably fine.

Don't turn on the car more than you absolutely need to. If you drop a valve, you'll need an engine.

Tell the tech the same. Inspect the retainers to make sure they're not cracked before running the car any more.

FYI, the fix is replace all ap1 retainers w stronger ap2 retainers. Cracked or not, replace all.

Smart to replace valve seals while in their.
