I just finished cleaning my IACV because of slight idle problems. It was full of gunk..so i reassembled it and start to thread in the Bolts. I used a torque wrench with 8.7 ft lb. I didnt hear the click and suddenly i felt no resistance.
I unscrew the bolt and see it is stripped.
Can i drive the car a few miles back home? I also need to drive it next week to my mechanic because of a new
Thanks for your reply!
I did the idle relearn and everything looks good.
Feels alot better than before and it seems like the iacv isnt leaking.
my mechanic should be able to fix that with some helicoil i guess? Or what are my options? Because i would have to drill out the bolt but then there is the danger of metal going into the intake i guess?
If the bolt is broken chances are the threads are okay, in that case just get a replacement metric bolt and it might tighten up fine without the need to helicoil. . When a bolt breaks there is very little tension on it so you could work it out yourself with an extractor bit more than likely.
I will closely monitor if i loose any coolant. The IACV sits very tight so i hope it will be ok to drive to my mechanic next week.
I will tell him to fix the bolt.. I have to visit him anyway cause i need a new clutch.
Maye i could use a nut because the thread is still screwed in. But im not sure if i can tighten the nut because there is not much space.
I will try that first.
The drive to my mechanic is about 3 miles and the IACV sits pretty tight and i havent seen any leaks. So i hope it will be fine to drive the car for 3 miles.
