I was driving home yesterday and my temp bar went up to 5! I pulled over and I could smell coolant. I touched my radioator and it was cold and my motor was a lot hotter than usuall. I poured some distiller water just enough to make it home on 3-4 bars on temp. I believe I leaked coolant? I don't know what to do now or go about how to get my car running again. Should I just top off on coolant? Thanks for the help!

 

If you're smelling coolant you've got a leak somewhere. Check your hoses.

 

Sounds like your thermostat has failed. If you have a properly functioning cooling system you cannot put your hand on the radiator.

 

Did the fan come on?

 

I don't think the fan was turning on. How would I go about checking my hoses? Or fixing the thermostat? It made weird sqweeking noises when I drive from a stop. I noticed a lot of new engine noises before and after it over heated.

 

Also my heater blew cold air
