Hi guys I wondering if anyone would know what would be causing my car to overheat and stall out when I idle. I had my thermostat, water pump, fan switch and radiator replaced. I also changed my TCT because it was making that horrible sound during idle that is now gone as well. Also I replaced the plugs and air filter. My car runs fine for about 20 minutes then it starts overheating and the idle goes really low and I notice it starts smoking. I also noticed my car had black soot in the exhaust. I looked at my oil and it doesn’t look to have water in there, so I’m not sure if it’s the head gasket. My car is an 2001 with 120k I’m hoping the motor is still ok.

Looks like your car wasn't bled properly when the thermostat and water pump were replaced. Don't drive it or you will damage the head gasket if you haven't already done so.....

 

bleed it properly it should fix the problem

 

I ran my car with the heater on and the radiator cap open tilted on a jack for 1 hour and closed it up took it out and im still over heating im not sure whats going on still.

 

Car shouldnt be tilted at all

 

and there is also a bleeder valve that can be opened to let out the air thats really trapped in there. and once you bleed it properly reset the ecu the right way just to be on the safe side to let the car know.
