I think your buddy owes you some money. I hope he realizes what he did.

My S2000 is my reason for getting up to work every morning or taking my classes religiously. When I go home at night after class, hopping back into my car and experiencing the sensation of such a high revving engine is what fuels my heart. It makes it all worthwhile for me. Luckily he's willing to pay for a used F20c...

Inspect the valvetrain first before you wright off this engine, maybe a hundred in parts and an afternoon of replacing valve retainers is all thats needed here if your lucky. Its more common to drop a valve on an ap1 due to the weak retainer design, so if you haven't yet, chances are pretty good you just have a few sunk valves with cracked retainers. Keep us posted on what you find.

My bad, I'm on my phone. After removing the valve cover I did a compression test. Cylinder number one was at 178psi (average after three trials) while all the other cylinders were at around 205psi. I have not checked the lash yet but from what I can tell it looks like the intake valves in cylinder number one have receded down into the cylinders. Why am I getting a misfire code for all four cylinders?

Would think the engine being out of balance regarding fault codes for all cylinders.
Removing engine is easy, removing head in situ is not.
Get some feeler gauges asap..

It's not looking good. All of My valves were out of spec after checking the lash. I think I might opt to get a used F20c.

Valve lash out-of-spec too tight or too loose?

Uhh id say so far this is the best news. Sounding more like an afternoon of replacing cracked retainers, and with any luck no bent valves. Do the retainer replacement, re set the valve lash and the ecu and do another comp test and drive.

Why are we talking engine replacements? You haven't executed step 2 yet and your already considering step 6.

Considering the previous post said they looked sunk, id say loose.

Sunk valves means cracked retainers.
