Paint repair options, car was keyed
Hi,
Anyone out there know much about painting cars?
My one month old S2000 was keyed this weekend. Are there methods available for repairing the damage without having to repaint the entire car?
Thanks

kid;
Sorry to hear about your problem.
It depends on how deep it is and what color the paint is.
With solid colors and surface scatches I've had some success with masking off the scratch with tape and applying touch up paint with a toothpick then wiping it off immediately.
Then I use a mild compound to clean up the scratch after the paint dries. This usually 'colors' it in so it's not so noticable.
With deeper scratches you could try to build it up a little at a time but the results become less predictable.
With metallic paint it's harder to match but still possible.
Good luck

The final verdict is that the entire side of the car needs to be painted to match, and the hood and trunk needs to be blended. I called my local Ferrari/Bentley Dealer and got a referal to their body shop. I figure if they can paint cars that cost 1/2 a million bucks, they can do mine. Final cost $2,320. Insurance is paying it.
Thanks for the suggestions.
