Default Parts Question

So I came across the random rough idle issue pulling code p1399. Smooth drive (most of the time) sometimes horrible gas mileage. Check engine light. Rough idle when fan kicks on, I noticed rough idle about a week and a half slowly build before the actuall check engine light. Its about the same issue db17k posted here:
Rough Idle Stall post

In that post he has some pictures of what I came to found out was a valve assym. purge solenoid, good pic is the 3rd one he posted. My question is mine doesnt have the cap on it and I dont know what it does. It just has the 3 metal tubes. What does this solenoid do? And can I cap it off or is it just some protective covering?

Thank you
Chris

BTW: I have already cleaned the IAC, did a MAP whack, car has 50k on it, changed the plugs, checked vacquum hoses (I have to take a cup of water to them though to be sure). At one point I had codes saying all cylinders missfiring. But now its just 1399 everytime. Can someone tell me if that part is a possible cause?

So her is the image. What is the name of this part? And what is that cap on it?

I tried capping it off and still got the 1399 and a new 1410 code. But I didnt get a check engine light.

Please someone assist. I was also wondering if anyone has some sort of Vacuum Diagram.

Check out this thread where I posted vacumm diagrams for another member:

You will see the bypass control valve and its associated connections in the 3rd pic. As for the idle issue, in my car that thing is completely disconnected, but the car drives perfectly fine. There are P0 codes store, but not related to this thing. I've been lazy hooking it up. Not sure what it does exactly, to be honest.

Looking at the breather tube, cap off the tube that has the vacumm from the manifold. I left the one going to the air valve hanging freely, but that is just me being ghetto about stuff, since it is only temporary. The rest of the stuff is just gone. Whether this is counterproducive or not I am not sure, but when I was turbo, it was like this except that the blow-off valve's vacumm source was at the breather tube.

I still want to know what that cap is, as it stand I have 3 tubes but the image above shows 2 and some sort of covering!
I tried bypassing it was getting a temporary code of 0411 is that what you are getting.

I am really starting to believe that this is not the issue. I think I am in the same boat as everyone else with the injector problem.

It was too sudden and was not during a hard run or anything like that. I had the code gone for a day and thought I would have fun and did a rear-end slide on a u-turn and the light came on...same codes. Engine sounds fine though besides the rough idle and the puffing exhaust. I never really run the car hard either. Just your normal get up and go everyonce in awhile. Couple high speed cruising sessions through the mountains. My friend about a few weeks ago did put half a tank of 87 in it (asshole) I finished the fill with 91 and took it easy. Tank was gone and filled it 91 again no signs of anything. This was before all this was going on. I really think its the injectors like everyone seems to be having issues with anyone have any ideas?

I am just going to out myself and get new injectors on Monday and replace them myself. I dont have that much cash so I think instead of spending 400 on a diagnosis, leakdown test, and compression test, put it on the injectors. After all the reading the most probable although only about 65% is replacing them.

Anyone know any good aftermarket for stock NA S2000 injector companies?

I am getting a P0411 because I am missing the air pump, but I am sure the lack of that valve will cause the p0411 to show up as well. A puffing exhaust has been proven to be issues with the valves or misfires, but that is just highly speculative at this point. P1399 is manufactures specific, so you may want to look more carefully into the situation. As for the function of said valve, I honestly don't have an accurate answer, hehe. Anyone else got any other ideas?

There is a diagram on the underside of the hood that shows that whole scheme.

The cap is just where air gets vented into atmosphere

So that is just a protective covering then or does it have functionality? Cuz mine does have one, I am wondering if it is causeing too much vacuum leak.

Thanx for the info Fatjoe10!!
