Default Passed Emissions Test

Just wanted to update everyone and let you guys know that I DID pass SMOG with my testpipe on. I have the mechanical o2 simulator with the t1r testpipe.

good to know but that doesn't make it good for the environment!

In PA if you have NO CEL then you pass. Although they do test your gas cap.

I figured S2k's could pass smog with a test pipe...back in high school when I had an Eclipse GST...all kinds of stuff on it, injectors, fuel pump, type of engine management, 3" turbo back, b16g turbo, etc. and no cat...I was still able to pass smog #'s wise on the machine...

My S2k runs much cleaner than that GST did

Doesn't necessarily make it bad for the environment either.

Actually, no cat = more carbon monoxide(a poisonous gas), more volatile organic compounds(a major component of smog), and more nitrogen oxides(contributes to smog and acid rain, and also causes irritation to human mucus membranes).

yeah...him passing wouldn't even be noteworthy if it weren't bad for the environment

Most likely they didn't actually put it on the sniffer, alot of times it's just an OBDII check.

Extremely unlikely that an s2k pass a modern tailpipe test without a cat. the NO would be too high.

Execpt that depending upon the circumstances it's not worse on the environment. Even if it puts out 10X the emmisions as one with a cat(it's not that bad). If a car with a cat is driven for 12X as much than the one without it will actually release more toxic gases into the atmosphere than the one without the cat.

Good/bad for the enviroment is all relative. The more you drive the worse you are for the environment. Removing the cat just increases the scale. However if it is a low use car then you can't really make the claim that you're hurting the environment more than the guy driving his SUV 50miles a day.

It was just and OBDII test. Thats all that is required in Nevada.
