Default Passenger Side Door Lock

I recently put some key hole covers in and I don't know whether it is just a coincidence, but immediately after (within 2 minutes) my remote no longer locked or unlocked the passenger side door. I can hear it try to lock/unlock but is not successful. I removed the key hole cover on that door but it didn't help.

I can't imagine how something so simple could affect the door lock, but maybe? Any ideas? My remote has always worked fine until now.

Please keep me informed with what happens. While I don't think the keyhole covers are the cause, I'm willing to help out with the situation.

How are you remotely unlocking the doors? Standing outside the car-or pressing the 'unlock' button while the key is in the ignition?

It takes two presses of the unlock button to unlock the passenger side.

I'm outside the car and the key is not in the ignition and I'm pressing the unlock button dozens of times. Two presses has worked for the last 14 months of owning the car and was working today, but now it stopped

I don't believe the keyhole covers to be the problem in anyway, just happened right after I put them on

Have you tried manually unlocking and locking the door a few times? Both from the inside and also using the key?

Then try again with the remote.

Thanks for the advice Ckit, I did that a few hours ago when I first discovered this problem and it didn't seem to help. However, I went out a few hours later and it unlocked after 2 clicks of the remote(only the first time), but then it wouldn't lock or unlock again (with the remote). I'd lock the car, but the passenger side wouldn't lock, even after several clicks and beeps from the horn.

Can you hear the passenger door clicking when you hit the remote?

I can't recall, is it possible to "remote lock" the doors with the doors open?

Trying to sort out if it's a mechanical (rusted tumbler or lock mechanism) or electric problem (door open plunger, connection, actuator, etc).

I suppose it wouldn't hurt anything to put a little WD-40 in the keyhole.

I went out this morning and it worked the first two times of using the remote then stopped. I followed CKit's advice on spraying some WD-40 in the keyhole and it worked! I don't know if it's just a temporary fix, but now it's working everytime. Thanks guys
