Right, messes up the timing chain geometry.

Hey guys so I'm trying to take the head off with the intake manifold. I got all the head bolts off but the head doesnt want to come out. It seems like something is holding it by the driver side firewall. I unbolted one bolt from the black bracket. Am i missing something? The front part of the head i can see a gap and move it up snd down but cant get it off.

there are a few black metal brackets that brace the manifold to the block. Also, there are a ton of vacuum hoses and heater hoses that have to be unclipped. Dont forget to unbolt the water neck 10mms. There are 2 of those.

Thank you. I am buying one soon. I already took the head off and dropped the oil pan. The block seems fine and checked the rod bearings and normal ware. I just picked up a new head that ima get checked out at the machine shop, change the timing chain, add new seals, and slap on the new head and see how long the block holds up.

Don't let machine shop talk you into aftermarket valvetrain parts or machining the head...

That's exactly what I was thinking. I am sure if the head is warped you can mil it, to a certain extent and then compensate the material taken off with a thicker head gasket. At least it makes sense in my head.
