Default Please Help with Problem

I have a misfire that results in a "putting noise." It makes the putting noise only when I am stopped and idling. It doesnt really effect the idle, meaning the RPMs dont change due to it. Ive brought it to Honda and they replaced the knock sensor and spark plugs. They did a compression test today and checked the valves and say that it looks good. They also told me that they checked a couple of other s2ks that are the same year and they do the same thing (which i think is bs). Anybody have any clue of what it might be? My warranty is almost up and im adding some things to my engine soon, so I want to make sure to get this thing resolved ASAP. Thanks for the help in advance!!!

Take it back to the dealer, or switch dealers. Misfire codes are not normal. I'd suggest a leakdown test, as well asthe rest of the misfire troubleshooting including swapping injectors, coils etc. I'd hold off on any engine mods untill the issue is resolved. If you go and put a SC on the car, there is no hope of getting it fixed by a dealer.

does it make a putt every cupple of seconds?????? When I had my integra I noticed a putting sound at idle. It would idle perfect for about ten seconds then you would here a little putt....... My problem wound up being a bent valve. I got a CEL about a week after I noticed the problem. Im not trying to say u have a bent valve just adding what has happend to me before it a diff car........

Thanks Chris and Ken. I will take it to another dealer in town that I know has more experience with s2000s. I don't have a CEL on for it, so I dont know what it is. Thanks for the advice. Its just an intake that I want to put on, but I suppose that I will wait until after I get the car looked at. Thanks for the advice!

UPDATE: Both dealerships could not find anything wrong. They said that they did a leakdown test and compression test and checked other things without finding anything. Im wondering if I whack the MAP sensor if that might fix the problem. Chris? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Does the car actually store misfire codes, or are you just after fixing a noise?
