Default Plug on firewall under clutch pedal?

Quick/stupid question:

Not my picture, but what's this plug/grommet undernear the clutch pedal on the firewall?

Was investigating a leaking clutch pedal and saw some grease on this plug -- tempted to pull it out but thought I'd check first!

Thanks!

Check passenger side for similar cutout. Thinking there maybe two. One for right hand drive, the other for left hand?

A big WAG...

Can't tell exactly from the camera angle, but isn't that where the clutch pedal hits the firewall at full contact ? Kind of like a crash pad for the pedal if I'm seeing that correctly.

Dont pull it out, as the back of it could tear off. It is the clutch pedal bump stop, and can only be purchased with an entire firewall.

Thanks for the warning! Mine seems slightly torn and loose, but I had a feeling I shouldn't pull on it.

Guess I push in the clutch too aggressively

One of those fast and furious types hugh ?, lol. You could put a small sticky pad over the cracked part if needed if you find something appropriate.
