Smanders

The design shown on NSXfiles is pretty much what I was considering having built.

Except I wasn't going to have any rear braces in my design. I think it would be very difficult to develop an easily removable solution with those rear braces. I've really no clue where they're bolted. I don't recall any hardpoints there but I'll check.

Concerning details of the floor mounting points, I don't have any. But it's pretty easy stuff, just unbolt the seats and start taking measurements. BTW, I know of at least 4 or 5 s2000 owners that would be very interested a removable solution like this, so we could probably get a good group discount going.

I think the convertible top cover fits fine wtih this rollbar, but I've never checked! I'll do that this evening.

I'll go buy a digital camera and take some pictures (a bit of a late adopter on most tech. curves, except for cars).

The weight increase is probably 30 lbs., maybe 40. I'll weigh everything and let people know once we build our first set of ten bars since I won't be taking mine out of my car until then.

If the four buttons that hold the cover in place are still there, then I think this might just be the bar I'm looking for.

Mikey,
How did the rear supportbars fit under the top with the top down? I am interested in a SCCA approved bar if someone can make one. I want it to look good also so my soon to be wife won't get mad at me.

Can someone tell me more about what "SCCA approved" means with regard to rollbars? Clearly they would never approve any rollbar for racing since a full cage is required. What exactly is SCCA approving rollbars for? I don't think you need a rollbar for Auto-x.

I've attached some more pictures below. The first shows the mounting plate behind the spare tire:

Uh... how do I post photos?

I believe SCCA requires 6 point roll cage for convertibles trying to compete in Solo1, time trials and club racing.

For Solo2(auto-x) factory roll bar is just fine.

IMHO SCCA approved roll bar is not only unnecessary and expensive, but it is also an overkill and would be very unsightly in a street driven car.

I'd get the Aaron's bar if I ever needed one.

The SCCA rollbar (4pt.) is needed to compete in Solo Trials events. That is why I am looking for it. The stock rollbar does not meet this requirement.

I had a Hard Dog bar on my Miata and it actually looked good. If they had one for the Honda, I would take out the factory hoops and put one in.

Just my 2.5 cents
