Default Post Supercharger Install Problems

Guys, need your expertise once again. Had a couple of questions....

I just had the Comptech SC installed. Its FAAAAASSSSTTTT!!! I was all smiles! But having a problem...

The car is running REALLY rich. Anything under 4000rpm, the car will bog like crazy! If above 4000rpm, the car backfires. Also, once in a while, while cruising at high speeds, the car wont accelerate. For instance, the engine will do its burbling bit, and then, when I hit the gas, nothing. But the engine is still on. It will not accelerate in ANY gear. So I turn the car off while rolling, and when I start the car again, then acceleration is fine. My friend says its because the the car is dumping fuel into the engine, and it shuts off as a precaution or something?

Driving in traffic is hell!!! I get so embarrased, the car starts bucking like crazy, tires chirp, and people just look at me like, "wtf is wrong with him"?.

1.) I'll be installing the Ghostbooster and VAFC next week. But until then, is there any way to lean the car out a bit? The S2K is my daily driver, I need it to be working somewhat decent. I cannot STAND driving in traffic because of this.

2.) Is this issue related to the check valve in any way?

3.) The Ghostbooster should resolve this issue right? I don't want to make the car too lean with the VAFC if the Ghostbooster will resolve this.....

4.) What is the main difference between the Ghostbooster and Comptechs ESM? Which would you guys prefer going with and why?

I know I read before that some of you SC'ed guys were running rich when you first installed the blower, just wondering what steps you guys took to get this resolved.

I think the problem happens when you let the MAP sensor see the boost without bleeding out pressure with check valve.
If you search back when the Comptech released the kit, you would read the same problems that those people had.

You should contact Shaner to set you up with ghostbooster(if he included in the kit), if not call Comptech asap and order the ESM.

I wouldn't advice you to run your car anymore in that condition until you resolve it with ghostbooster or ESM.

Yeah.. I've installed the check valve.. 2 in fact. When I had the Comptech check valve on, it was running pretty decent. Then my friend put another check valve on it, and my car felt soooo strong. I can't wait to install the Ghostbooster.

HeNeSSeY, are you running on some sort of special Comptech supercharger on steroid?
Because the way you describe 'FAAAAASSSSTTTT!!!' and 'soooo strong' doesn't sound like the Comptech supercharger that I know.

If you have installed the check valve as you've said, I don't know why you are having such an extreme problem.

Anyway, I would like to take a look at your set-up. Unfortunately I have the blower disconnected at the moment because the new pulley won't be ready til next Monday. Perhaps we can hook up next week and compare the set-up.

How sure are you on this? Cuz I smell an awful lot of gas..... We rechecked the fuel line, tried checking everything else too.

Mine runs fine with the old Comptech check valve. A few times, when it was as cold as it gets in Southern California, the car seemed a bit sluggish at 3-4K rpm. Once there were three bars on the heat gauge it was fine. I don't know how it would be in really cold climate. I'm not looking to replace the valve that came with my SC because all is well. I read of a few people having these problems, but not many. Maybe where they live and how cold it gets has something to do with it?

I was experiencing similar behavior when I first installed mine.

The following two fixes solved the problems:

Replaced CheckVavle with the Comptech ESM
Fixed a kink in the fuel return line

If you are running the kit without at least a checkvavle, I can only imagine the horror in your drivability. I wouldn't start the car without some fix to prevent the ECU from seeing positive manifold pressure. Under 4k rpm drivability issues point to something else entirely. You are running rich for some reason. Check the fuel return line underneath the red Comptech FMU.
