Default Power steering fault?

I am sorting a few issues resulting from a small engine fire caused by loose oil filter.

My main issue now seems to be with the power steering system.

The EPS light is on. And makes a rumbling sound when turning left, only when turning left.

I have checked the electrical connecters, they are a little gunked up, but not too bad, and wiring not melted.

Anyone any ideas what this could be?

Cheers

The heat from the fire could have compromised a part of the system. Maybe the EPS module itself or damaged a part of the rack. How bad was the fire?

It was not a massive fire.

This is what the rack looked like prior to clean up.

If it's making the rumbling sound, does it sound like I will need to replace the whole rack?

Also could damage of occurred from being towed a short distance with no ignition?

EPS is electrical. So I supppse low voltage could cause issues. Not sure of the issues you are having, but I would first resolve the batt issues before troubleshooting EPS further.

Thanks, I charged the battery, and it made no difference apart from the engine starting quicker.

I decided to remove the whole steering rack. There is nothing obvious, the plastic around the torque sensor is a bit brittle?
It does also make a very slight grind sound pushing it side to side.

So I've ordered a second hand rack, as well as control unit, new track rod ends and new anti-roll bar links.

So I am hoping with that lot replaced it should sort the issue?
