Preload needed with coilovers???
I installed a set of GC coilovers. I preloaded the suspension before tightening everything back up. My question is: if I change ride height by adjusting the coilovers, I do not have to preload the suspension again right since it is already preloaded?
Are you sure they need to be preloaded? The JICs do, but only because the total damper stroke is too short for the spring rates they have.
Anyway, to answer your question, ride height adjustments don't have any effect on preload requirements if you are making the height adjustment at the bottom of the assembly (not the spring perch).

Here is a thread about preloading the JICs.

I was under the impression that the suspension points (the bottom bolt holding the front and rear shocks, the upper A-arms bolts in the front suspension) needed to see vehicle weight before being torqued down. Not sure this is the same as preloading the coilover (as in the case of the JIC) but the GC coilovers only adjust height by moving spring perch not by an adjustible lower body. Are you saying that if coilovers are adjusted by moving spring perch they need to be re-preloaded each time at height adjustment is done?
