OK, in the pic below, I have circled the area where the intake piping meets the box. If you look closely at the actual part up close (not shown here), the funnel shaped piece where the filter attatches in the box and the pipe are two separate pieces. Mine keeps coming apart so that the pipe falls off the box with the filter and funnel shaped plastic portion still securely attached to the box. I don't believe these two parts came separatly from comptech, and I have never seen another come apart like this. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this to stop coming apart? Thanks

Call CompTech, I am sure they will swap this out at a minimal fee (if not free). It should be one piece glued (or howevver they did it). The have been great to deal with so far for me. Just let them know what is wrong and ask to get a replacement. They might want to charge you for shippinng and a deposit to asure them you will return the defective part to them.

Good luck.

Mine never had this issue.

When I first got mine a couple years ago, I had the same problem. It was caused by the filter not being on correctly. To fix, remove the filter and clean off any oil that may be on the flange(the hard plastic). Make sure your other connections are loose so you can move every thing around. When the filter is on properly, the rubber seal will be against the inside of the box. Tighten the band up while you squeeze the the two halves together. Mine is extremely tight. Next, at the first joint, make sure the pipes are not making contact and tighten up. This will let the joint flex as designed. Mine has not come apart since I had everything adjusted right. The box/filter connection is a B&^ch the first time.

Is the joint actually broken, or is the filter just slipping off. If it is broken, ignore my first post.

No, it's not broken. It just keeps popping apart. In other words, the filter stays attatched to the plastic piece and therefor is held in the box. The pipe separates from the filter and box.

If you don't want to deal with comptech I would just get plastic epoxy glue and put it back together. You should be

hmm didnt think of that but then again plastic epoxy is very strong. You know the kind you mix together. In fact if you just prep the area good and put a small bead of glue without getting to excessive I wouldn't worry about flaking.

You could actually test the epoxy seal by testing it on two plastic pieces of scrap and break them apart. you will not see flakes or pieces of glue break off. IMO

If you call comptech they will probably tell you they use plastic epoxy glue to put those pieces together.
