Default Problem with convertible top

I have a 2002 and lately the convertible top won't go all the way down. It just stops short of the fully down position.
I know this because I can not open the door between the seats with the wind deflector on it all the way now. The problem is interment but, more not working than working.
I was at the dealer today looking around and saw a 2005 S going out on a test drive and the sales person was having the same trouble I am having...top not going down all the way

Any help would be great the dealer wants $85.00 to look at it....

Thats probably the issue at hand.... My straps are not totally worn, but when its cold i see the problem happen more time then others. I usually keep one hand pushing back on the bar when i drop the top just to make sure.

Don't worry, it will stop. That's what happened to me before. Just do it twice or three times each time until you get it all the way down. Watch the way it folds. Sometimes it doesn't do it right. You have to train it. Like having a permanent press. You have to manually fold it while it is going down. Luckily i don't have that same problem for about 3 years now.

All you need to do it keep light backward pressure on the moveable bar above your head when lowering the top.

It's a problem with all s2k's, and this will cure every single one for good.

I always do it with mine. If you don't, the tips of the levers will cut through the top.
