Default Programing a new remote

passengers multiplex unit---Can someone please tell me what this is and where under the dash I can locate it? I have managed to wash both of my remotes and need to program the new ones. Yes I know.

I will piggy-back ride on your question with my additional one

If you have an aftermarket/honda alarm fitted, will it still recognize and accept it if you program a (new) remote according to TRICKS46 methode?

When I bought the car I had the optional crap Honda alarm fitted and got new remotes (that only work with the Honda alarm), so I don't have the original normal Honda remotes anymore. Now I have had a Clifford Alarm fitted and again got new remotes (obviously), but the Honda Alarm remotes don't work anymore, since that box was removed. Also, my trunk release does not work, but I think if I find someone kind enough to lend me an original remote, I will be able to have the Multiplex system recognize it and also activate the standard remote trunk option. I am hoping that if this actually works, I will be able to 'teach' that code to my Clifford remote (which is possible) and I have a fully working system again, without any new wiring necessity...

Any thoughts??

And yes, I tried to 'teach' the Honda Alarm remotes (that I still have) to the car, but wasn't actually sure that I did it correctly. I.e. I don't know where this Multiplex box is hiding and if you have to touch it or something... The directions are somewhat vague.... Obviously I wasn't able to have the car accept the Honda Alarm remotes as of yet, if it is at all possible...

Thanks for letting me use your thread TRICKS46. Where is that darn Multiplex thing anyway.....?

Regards,

Siepel

The "piggy-back ride on your question " is fine with me. I know that one of these owners at this board has the answer we need. I went to the dealer to ask this ? and the people in charge didn't know. Now I remember why I went to Tulsa to buy my car.

Yep, I got that printed out and made it to the floorboard but that still doesn't tell me what or where the "passengers multiplex unit" is located under the dash. I am not sure what I'm looking for.

It looks like the programming instructions at https://www.s2ki.com/faqs/showfaq.php?threadid=19438 are a little bit garbled. Here is how they appear in my Helm:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transmitter Programming

Storing transmitter codes:

The codes of up to three transmitters can be programmed into the keyless receiver unit memory. (if a fourth code is stored, the code which was input first will be erased.)

NOTE: It is important to maintain the time limits between the steps. Make sure the doors, the hood and the trunk are closed.

1. 1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multiplex control unit.

3. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch OFF.

4. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch ON (II).

5. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multiplex control unit.

6. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch OFF.

7. Within 4 sec., turn the ignition switch ON (II).

8. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multiplex control unit.

9. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch OFF.

10. Within 4 sec., turn the ignition switch ON (II).

11. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multiplex control unit.

12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button again. The keyless receiver is now in the program mode. You must push the transmitter lock or unlock button of the first transmitter again to program that remote.

13. Within 10 sec., aim the transmitters (up to three) whose codes you want to store at the receiver, and press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and pull out the key.

15. Confirm proper operation with the new codes(s).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You don't have to worry about where the passenger's multiplex control unit is, just sit in your car and follow the directions (you can point the transmitter at your left foot if you want).

By the way, you can program more than one car to use the same transmitter (my '99 CR-V transmitter operates my S2000 locks), meaning you don't have to carry a whole pocketful of transmitters.
