AFTERMARKET ALARM
As some of you may have read below I am having issues with my alarm/ immobiliser (I think). I would like to upgrade the alarm anyway and before I pay honda too much money to fix the problem with another honda alarm I was wondering if a 3rd party system would solve the problem or if I need to sort the honda one first. If I get a toad/clifford etc would they be able to disconnect the honda alarm and make the car work again or am I scuppered either way. I just don't want to spend money to fix something that will then be replaced.
Cheers

I would assume that as its an aftermarket one anyway they should be able to completely remove it.
I had a clifford one in my previous one and it was Ok. Key fob was a bit hugh though but you should be able to get it wired up to the remote boot release with a separate button.

Not that it helps exactly as I didn't have an alarm with mine to start with, but I got a Sigma alarm fitted recently and it seems perfect for what I need.
Not hugely expensive but gives me plenty of reassurance and its a small little alarm fob too.
Cheers

I'm having an alarm dilemma at the moment too... seeing as though my euro-import doesn't seem to have one!!
I've read loads of threads using the search, but none of them have helped me out really. In my MR2 Roadster I had 3 Clifford G4 sirens fail in 4 years... plus dodgy bonnet switches that went off in the wet, and an impossible to accurately adjust interior microwave "bubble", so that's kind of put me off Cliffords!!
Has anyone got any experience of the new Clifford G5?
Cheers,
Tim.

My Clifford (Concept 300) had the same problem with the bonnet sensor!
... thinking about it .... don't get a Clifford!
Had a Toad before that and that had no problems and possibly the biggest range ever! Nothing better than aciddentially forgeting to close the windows and being able to do it remotely from the office!!!!

My clifford concept 300 lets me know when the bonnet sensor has got wet, no problem though, just lots of indicator flashes when setting or disarming after it has been wet.
Have Scorpion on Prelude, not a problem in 5 years, very dodgy yellow thing on CRX, avoid like the plague, Honda alarm on NSX, fine !!

Didn't realise it was a feature. Guess I should have read the manual!

I would recommend you take it to a specialist alarm/ICE centre. They should be able to help you pick a good alarm and also remove the old one.
Your main concern should not be the engine component removal (I'm guess that'll be straight forward) it should be the interior. Wouldn't let a tyre monkey go near the inside of my car as it is very easily marked in an S.
Best left to a specialist car electronics company i.e. ICE people.
