Default Proper break in for new '07

Just got my '07 NFR. What is the proper break in period for this car? How many miles? I've been keeping the rev under 6K.

Thanks,

John

P.S. This is a great car! Luv it.

This is the first time this question has ever been asked, and it probably is not in your owner's manual either.

Let's see what the friendly S2Ki members will have to say about it

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the family, by the way.

You will find alot of different advice on this topic.

Gentle break-in = "correct break in" longevity of the motor.
Hard break-in = less life (not proven how much life really is lost), and some say it frees up some power.

my .02$

P.S .... when you bought it from the dealer, they didnt cover any of the break in information with you?

stay under 6k for the first 600 miles which is hard to do but the S is still fun to drive below 6k. after 600 all thrusters are a go!

The way I see it, you have three options:

1. Read the F'n manual
2. Do a search
3. Drive 600 miles while keeping it under 6000 RPMS and vary your speeds along the way.

After being on the site for over 3 years, I would guess you would know #'s 1 & 2.

I dont mean to give you a hard time but are you really that lazy not to read your manual? If your car didnt come with one-like in my case- that is understandable.

-Keep under 6k for 600 miles
-do not baby it....give it 1/2 to 3/4 spurts, vary your speed alot.
-Don't steady cruise

Bottom line, keep a medium load on the engine.

This process has proven to seat the rings better to the cylinder walls for good compression.

With the FRM clylinders of the s2k, this technology may not apply, but it's good practice. It's how I broke in my new s2k.

I'm at 72k and all is great.

Page 110 of the owners manual says what everyone else has said, stay under 6k RPM the first 600 miles. Also no hard acceleration first 600 miles.

I know, I picked up my 07 this afternoon and read the manual when I got home

after 200 miles just step on it a little, the more miles the better.
