Default Protective Coating on Stock Headers

Hi guys

Got a JDM Type V and wanted to ask a question.

I was looking at many headers and spending countless hours reading opinions on the forum.

In the end I just kind of got frustrated and thought of actually coating my stock headers (inside and out) in some Zirconium type coating.

Also Dry Film Release coating the inside of our valve covers might be pretty beneficial too, I think.

More information on this link for the header coating: http://www.procoat.co.nz/cermachrome.htm

More info on the valve cover coating: http://www.procoat.co.nz/dfr.htm

Well the cost would be only 1/4 or less than buying an after market header... with some sort of advantage as the gases would flow better through the coating, will be less hot and plus it would look a little more bling

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

I read up a little bit and IMO i doubt you will get any noticable "gains" by performing this "modd". If its just for looks, go for it

Hmm.. yeah I know it will look bling but im just looking at efficiency rather than gains.

What do you guys think?

Having an efficient system with less heat, should avoid some heat soak and other crap that makes the car not run at its 100%, so thats where I'm aiming.

Let us know how it works out.

I'm in California, and I don't really want to mess with smog too much. But I'd like to reduce under hood temps and so am interested in the idea of heat coating the stock exhaust.

People coat stock manifolds all of the time. Most of the time it is for vintage cars that do not want to disturb precious paint. It only serves to decrease underhood temperatures. Any power increase??? I'll bet the bank that it is less than noise on any dyno.

That being said, I'd still do it!!! I have a coated header on every vehicle I have owned.
