Q: 37mph @9000rpm in 1st?
I seem to hit rather *consistently* ~37mph when I'm supposed to hit 44+ at least according to theory? Mine is completely stock MY02 with 37k miles .

I think theoretical max is 42MPH in first, but you'd have to have 0.0 sec RT, otherwise you'll bounce off the rev limiter (not good).
What, 37MPH in first ain't good enough for ya'?

Just get up to redline and don't shift. Give the speedo a second to catch up. The rev limiter is there to keep you from hurting the engine, so bouncing off it a few times ain't gonna hurt anything.

For some reason, I couldn't let myself see the redlimiter come on...funny how you can't when you try. I used to do it all the time when I wasn't "thinking" about it . Hmmm...I still think I won't see 42-44mph even if I let the speed catch up.

Err, Can you cite me something from someone with some credubility that bouncing off your rev limiter will destroy the engine? I agree that higher rpm usage is more taxing in general than low rpm usage, but its the nature of the beast in our cars to go with high RPMs. I've always bounced the rpm limiter in my Civic and its got over 100k miles on the engine.
