I just called my dealership and they said that they use 5w-20 quacker state on the S. Is that true?

My bad...I don't think they make 5w-20 any brand...I'm going to check with the dealership again b/c the owner's manual says 10w-30.

dealerships use oil that "meets specs" from the company that supplies it to them the cheapest. unless the car states it requires an exact specification synthetic etc, they use the cheapest stuff (usually from large tanks) in the back

I think it's time you found a new dealer. If you do everything this one says, you may as well go to Vegas and gamble. Some people may swear by Quaker State and if that's the case, then fine but here's a little story:

A co-worker of mine is also an engine mechanic with a specialty in aircraft engines. As part of his courses he took one dealing with engine oil (anything and everything to do with oil). Of all the oils they studied and tested, Quaker State was the only one found to leave bad residues inside the engine. This, in turn, accelerated the production of sludge. I have never used Quaker State since. When I did use it, I was using their 5W50 synthetic in a turbo Caravan. I left it in the engine for nearly 10,000 km. The sludge buildup under the valve cover was hideous. I suppose if I changed the oil at the usual 5000 kim, it may have been OK. When I think of QS, I equate it to sludge.

forget the details, but I have heard the same kind of stuff about quaker state as xviper. It was some course or something I was taking and one of the teachers worked with race crews and he said don't ever use quaker state oil.

The only Engine I had to take apart was one with the use of Quaker State. It had SO MUCH sludge built up I have NEVER used it since, and I change oil and filters and 3K. I have used Pensoil and never seen any sludge in over 30 years of use.
