Default Question about airbag system

I have a question about the SRS Airbag System. If the car was hit in such a way as to activate the switch (but not tear the crap out of the car) and you got in and turned the key. Would the Airbag deploy or would it happen at the time the car was hit?

Good question. That would teach you to never want to push a red button again. I'll be watching for a reply from someone who knows.

As soon as the SRS is activated it will set off the airbag that it was sent to. Even if there is no extreme damage.

I had no idea about that one so I called my local tech guy and he said it would not go off because the sensor would not be activated.

If the ignition switch was off and the vehicle not moving the bags will not deploy. The bags will not deploy when you turn the switch on after the car was hit.

The key must be on, the car must be moving and the sensors inside the SRS controller must be decelerated or accelerlated fast enough that the controller deems deployment is needed.

Don't the sensors need to be replaced after that, though??
