Default Question about the diff...

I have the 18" WORKS wheels and need to get one of them worked on. Since I really don't want to take all of the wheels off and put the stock ones on can I just put one stock wheel on and still drive it around for a week while my other wheel is getting fixed? The reason I ask is because I belive the stock wheel/tire combo (16"/50 series tire) is a tad shorter overall than the aftermarket (18"/35 series tire), will it hurt anything? Sounds like a stupid question I know, but I'm not too good with LSD's.

Thanks for any info...

Andrew

it's not recommended. I don't think it'll cause significant wear, but I'd do it only in the worst case scenario, and then I'd keep it on city streets on the way to Discount Tire.

I wouldn't do it either. reason being - even in the manual it says that using the spare tire on the rear can damage the differential.

Why not put two stock rims on the rear?

Thanks guys, I guess Wes has the best idea, I just didn't think it would be a big deal to put one of the stock rims back on while I got the other fixed, and I'd never put the spare on unless I had too (front only).

Thanks again
