Default Question about the Heatshields

Hello all-

I have a MY00 and was wondering if anyone on the forum had removed either of the heatshields-the black vertical one and or the one on the factory header/exhaust manifold. Was wanting to clean up the engine bay but not if these are critical.

The shields are there to protect the battery and the fuse box, wiring harness and brake line that are all behind them. It's best to leave them alone.

Plus, engine bay temps will go up dramatically. Heat soak is already a major hp thief for our car...removing the heat shield from the header will only make it worse.

If you want to clean it up get a ARC heat shield it will also cover the fuse bax and AC lines

As far as the heat sheilds on the header you can have them polished like the ones that come with the mugen header or you can go out and get a Mugen header (cleans up the engine bay and makes power )
