Default Question about jacking car.

I have searched for this and can't seem to find the right answer. I am interested in lifting all 4 wheels off the ground. The jacks I have are not able to reach the front or back central jacking points. I was wondering is it okay to lift one whole side of the car put it on jack stands and then go to the other side or is it worth buying a long armed floor jack that will reach the front and rear central jack points. i know about driving up on 2 by 6s but was not interested in doing it this way please help.

Lots of threads on this, do a search. Make sure you're using the correct jack point in the front.

look at your owners manual for alternate jacking points.

i understand the jack points i was wondering about actually raising one whole side of the car and then the other side when putting it up on 4 jack stands thats all. i think the idea of jacking up the front individually and then using the central rear jack point to raise the back will work for me the best the reason i am asking all these types of questions is that to get to the central front jack point is impossible without having to buy a very long/large floor jack. thank you for your help.

I go side to side in two steps. I jack one side up half way, place the stands and then do the same on the other side. Repeat one more time for full height. Just make sure the stands are perfectly even, and all four corners of each stand are on the concrete. The S WILL teeter from corner to corner if the stands aren't even. If this happens, don't panic. Simply lower the corner you're jacking up slowly, and adjust your stands.

technically that would work but you have to lift that sucker pretty high up to get even small jackstands under it. What I do is use the factory jack to lift up the driverside front lift point enough so that I can get a basic floor jack under the front lift point. After that I'm off to the races by removing the factory jack, puttin two stands under the front and then doing the rear from there. When it's time to lower it I raise up the front jack point, pull the front jackstands, place the factory jack in place at the same height as when I pulled it out at the front driverside, lower the front carefully onto the factory jack, then lower the rear, then wind down the factory jack at the front driverside.

Just use your oem jack on a rear corner, then raise the whole back end from the diff.

Cut two 2x4's at an angle and drive up onto them. My OEM jack stays in the trunk.

I like your idea spook but i am wondering if my floor jack will actually get to the diff for jacking the rear up i think i should just buy a better longer jack its just that they are pretty pricey i am trying to get away with just using an inexpensive floor jack.
