Default Question about those washers....

As my earlier thread said, I am getting my oil, tranny, and diff fluid done at Acura. I went to Honda this morning to get the washers, and the parts guy tells me they arent in stock and he cant get them till next week. Meanwhile, my appointment is Thursday 1pm. The service guy told me that its perfectly fine to reuse the old washers. Is this true, or is he blowing smoke up my a$$?

Also, does anyone have the part numbers for the washers I need...this would make hunting them down a lot easier.

Thanks a lot. _-Dave

They don't have oil pan crush washers in stock??? At a Honda dealer? You've got to be freakin' kidding.

Personally, I wouldn't reuse the oil old pan crush washer. They're designed to deform, and once they've done so, they won't provide the same seal. I just got done changing my oil early due to an oil pan leak caused by re-using an old crush washer. Don't risk the headache.

As for the diff, there is no washer.
The tranny may have washers on the drain and fill plugs, but I re-use those on my WRX all the time, and I'd suspect you can re-use them on the S as well. They're most likely not crush type washers.

Actually there are washers for the diff, but I don't believe the fill is a crush type. I'm not advising to re-use these washers, but I've been doing it for about 6 oil changes without any leaking problems. Have you tried buying them from s2ki marketplace?

I use the rubber/metal type large enough for 14mm plug. They are re-useable and never leak.

ALL the drain and fill bolts on this car has a washer. I have re-used every one of them with no problems. The only one that "might" present a problem is the diff fill bolt washer. This one seems to "crush" quite easily and squishes out after a few fluid changes.

Thanks a lot Xviper. Im sorry to keep bothering you guys with these
simple questions, but the people at my honda dealer are total idiots and dont know anything about anything. So I should be ok for the 1st time with the diff washer....its the first time it's being changed? For next time, Ill get a new one.
