Default Question about the top catchers.

I got my car shipped to me a while ago with a hardtop mounted. I removed the top catchers from the hardtop today and fitted them on the soft top.
Seals perfect and works fine for closing but the soft top wont go down all the way, they hit a bar inside the soft top.
Noticed this when I tried to mount the tonneau cover.

What do you think is wrong? The catchers looks like OEM parts.

I will crack the top if the catchers continue to rub/hit that bar.

The soft top bar (part of the frame) sometimes doesn't move into the right position as the top goes down. You can move the bar by hand, or put in an elastic strap (there are instructions on the site somewhere - search) to pull it into the correct position automatically.

By the way, didn't your soft top already have "catchers" on it?

Yeah, the car had catchers but guess the hardtop company moved them to the hardtop.

I checked the rubber bands cause I remember reading about them here and they were still in place.
I tried to move the bar by hand but it wouldn´t go down further, the problem were the catchers resting on that bar and sticking up.
I removed the catchers and the top fell down a bit, could use the tonneau cover again.

And guess what, had a 1 cm tear in the top on the drivers side. Will kill myself very soon....

Will go back to the homemade catchers for now and try to repair the top, rain tomorrow.

You say the bands are still there, but are they tight? As in, are they doing their job? Mine were still there, but had lost their elasticity, and were not pulling the bar back when the top went down. I had to hold the bar to get it in place. That is why your top ripped I would bet.

Check out this link for the fix. http://www.modifry.com/products/ctf/index.htm

Edit:
Here is a link to what the bar is doing if the straps are loose: http://www.modifry.com/products/ctf/details.htm

soft top catchers are different part numbers than the hardtop ones, not sure if it is due to a fitment issue or not. I wasn't aware that you could swap soft top ones to hardtops and vice versa.
