Question on differential fluids
WOW. No wonder adding the stabilizer makes it the consistency of honey and hard to pump. It's got a viscosity of 110 cst at 100 deg C! That's like a 600 weight if the specification did ever exist.
The 80W90 is still on the thin side at only 15 cSt at 100 deg C, which I'm guessing is part of the reason why Ben's recommending mixing in the oil stabilizer. It's also probably got some EP additives in there to prevent viscosity breakdown, since non synthetics shear down faster. The only thing that worries me is the viscosity of the resulting fluid. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't 110 cSt x 0.3 + 15 cSt x 0.7 = 43.5 cSt at 100 deg C? That would fall in the spec of 250 weight. Our high offset ring and pinion can benefit from the protection of a thicker oil, but has anyone compared their gas mileage before and after using this fluid mix?

You can search for local dealers on its website. It's around $15 for 75w140 and $14 for 75w110 right now I believe. I got the 75W140.
The Mobil 1 75W140 Synthetic would be a good alternative as well but I've never been able to find it locally.

Anyone using the honda hypod gear oil?
Talked to a guy from Honda who told me he had a gear oil for me when I come in for service to his private shop. I thought he was talking about the infamous crv stuff that blows diffs but I went by the shop and seen it and it appears to be the real deal.

If you mean the Honda Marine SAE 90 GL-5 hypoid gear oil used in outboard motors, then yes.
I have used it.
Its an exact match to the spec in the owners manual.
