Default Questionable Dyno figures on my AP1...

Hello guys

It was my first time to dyno my car today so I was excited to see how my car would do with the I/H/E upgrades I have on my car (Mugen headers and dual exhaust, ARC intake). I've been reading the forums here and got to know how much a stock AP1 would give on the dyno (188-190hp) and also facts about Mugen headers and ARC. I had in mind that I would make around 200hp+ just with those upgrades. 18inch TE37 rims on my ride.

So they started the dyno... At first they found out that I had bad plugs already when they did the first run so they changed it to Iridiums IK24, then started the official dyno. This is the result:

177.89

Daym! I don't know why I ended up with those numbers for my AP1. I really got depressed that time because I was expecting a lot from the dyno results being high. Guys... What do you think is the problem?

1. The dyno machine is not properly calibrated or because it has been with the shop for a long time? (DYNOJET)
2. Something wrong with the engine?

Kinda paranoid right now with my engine and with the numbers I got. Just to answer my curiosity, I'll have it dynoed again in a new place nearby which has a new Dynopack system and see if I'll have the same result.

Hope you can help me out guys...

How many miles on your engine? maybe is just worn out. Or is your check engine light on? something is definatly not right.

I've got 46,000km on my AP1. No check engine light on since I bought the unit. That's what I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my engine.

I'm from the Philippines and we've got warm temps out here. I was thinking it must be one of the factors, compared to a more cooler climate you guys have here.

Go out and buy an e-manage or something and get it tuned. Even a vafc will help ya. Also check your timing

I know different dynos will have different readings. I tested my AP1 on a Mustang dyno and put down 198 with a cat back exhaust and an intake snorkel / cone filter.

Yours is off by 10% or more though. so I dont know if it could be the dyno or not. I would drive another S2K and see if there is a big difference between the two. If yours feel faster than a stock one, I wouldn't worry about a dyno reading.

Is this the timing chain you're referring to? The VAFC is already something I am contemplating on getting right now. The VAFC 1 is ok right?

Actually man I was also thinking of the same thing. It must also have something to do with the dynojet. Tomorrow morning I'm dropping by the other shop and check. I have a friend who only did headworks on his engine but no I/H/E upgrades and EMS, he got 188hp.

I'm refering to your ignition timing. For ecu tuning, the more money you spend, the better the results. Those vafc things can't adjust ignition timing, only the a/f ratio, which is probably all you need. You car is going to be running rich, and leaning it out will make you more power.
