When you change rotors,I read somewhere,there is a bolt,that is impossible to remove,and you have to drill It.!
Wich one is it ?
Do you replace it with another bolt,when it is done ?

It's actually a very large screw. You need to use an impact hammer to break it free without stripping it. There's one for each rotor. Once you have the hub exposed, it is very obvious. If you get it off intact, it can be reused. You don't even need it. It's only there to hold the rotor inplace till you get the wheel bolted on.

I find that if the first tool you use is is either a hammer type impact wrench or a compressed air driven impact wrench, then the screw comes off really easy usually on the first try.

But if you try to use a regular or electric screw driver you will most likely be causing the requirement of having to drill it out.

 

Looks like a number of us are replacing rotors in the near future.

 

Screw has many functions.

1 locator...keeps the rotor centered, so the edge of the hole doesn't cut into the studs on heavy braking.

2 keep rotor from shifting, and causing a loose wheel.

3 keeps the rotor flush when doing pads.

4 keeps the rotor in place on the assy line.

 

Don't know about you guys, but there are *two* of those screws on each of my rotors. And they're not all that large. But yes, an impact screwdriver (and small sledgehammer) is just the thing to get them off.

Received my Brembo rotors,drilled and slotted,this morning,and they are not identified"Left" or "Right ".
How do I install them? Slots pointing to the front? this way(--//

Hope everybody understand my question;should the slots and drilled holes,be bending to the front or to the rear of the car.?
