Default quick question about fork, clutch release part

fork clutch release picture

Looking at the blueprint above... Would i be able to just pull straight out part #4 (the fork, clutch release from the tranny? I ask this because i tried the slave delay cylinder mod and well when i put it all back together i couldnt get the car started again. My friend saw that the fork was misaligned and popped it back in place. After he did i went under to take a look what he did and i grabbed the fork and was able to pull it loose and i told him that i did... so he went back under and put it back. I'm just wondering if i should have been able to do this? The car started after and it ran fine all day today. I'm just curious since i dont want the car to all of a sudden break down on me.

Thanks

John

Yes, you can pull the fork out of the holder with the trans in the car. You can't get the fork out of the clutch housing unless you remove the trans from the block though.
