Default just a quick question

I have so mutch clutch buzz in my car that I want to throw up... so I will be taking my car to albert in the extremly near future to replace my clutch and release bearing...

my question is.... when i reverse or sometimes in first when parking I release the clutch half way and then put the clutch back down to the floor i can sometimes hear a CLUNK... has anyone had this problem and is there anything i cna replace while the tranny is open to fix this??

thanks

also if the cars not warmed up its difficult to get the car in first or reverse (but this seems to be a mroe common problem)

thanks in advance guys

That "cluck" isn't a problem, it's just the nature of the car. They all do it.

Wait, are you saying the clutch makes a "clunk", or the gears?

The clutch makes the drivetrain "clunk". When you partially engage the clutch in this fashion, from this speed, in this kind of manouver, you are loading the drivetrain. Then, when you push the clutch back down, you are unloading it. The drivetrain from the clutch on back has a certain bit of "spring back" to it and this is what you hear (the unloading). This can get more noticeable on an older clutch that is perhaps a bit stickier.

As for difficulty getting into 1st and reverse, are you putting it into another forward gear (2nd or 4th will do) to stop the tranny from spinning? This is not an uncommon practice to do this before engaging into 1st or reverse, especially if you've been in neutral with the clutch out.

I read somewhere the rear clunk can possibly be a bent shift fork.

Do you have trouble sometimes engaging 5th or 6th on the hwy?

the clutch may MAKE the drvietrain clunk, but the tranny itself is what clunks.

just clarifying....

Can't be any worse than the G35 clunk.

Hey do you guys feel the clunk as well as hear it? It happens to my car from time to time, but I always thought it was coming from the rear differential. It's like the pinion is taking up the slack on the ring gear.

Does this make sense XViper?
