Default Random misfire after overrev

I made a dumb mistake and let a friend drive my car. He misshifted from 3rd to 2nd rather than 4th causing a nasty overrev. Since then, the car throws a random misfire CEL on all cylinders. The CEL light blinks at low rpm, but is solid at higher rpm. The car idles lower than normal and shakes a good amount, but once you get the rpm's up around 2k, it drives exactly the same. Since this happened, I haven't used v-tec at all. Anyone know what might be the problem?

There isn't any knocking in the engine so I doubt I bent a lifter. I guess I could have a slightly torqued timing pulley or a bent valve.
Thanks in advance for any help.

STOP DRIVING THE CAR NOW!

It is very very likely you have one or more bent valves as Freddy says.

Right now, you are more than likely just looking at pulling the head and replacing the valves. If you keep driving it, you may do more damage to the point of needing a whole new motor.

Take a look in the DIY FAQ for the Misfire Troubleshooting thread. But if I were you, I would start with the compression test.

Sorry man...expensive lesson. Don't let non-s2k owners drive your ca

Thanks guys. I haven't driven the car since the incident.

Unfortunately, I'm 180 miles from home visiting family. So I'm stuck here and I'm going to have to fix it or tow it home.

Definitely fix it or tow it home.... Search up what happens if a valve drops into your block and see the expensive fix that will be if you take the chance and drive it.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I let a non-s2k idiot drive my car, and he race shifted it with the result that the clutch grabs much higher up top now.

I learned a lesson....I DONT CARE TO BE "NICE" ANYMORE...GET YOUR WAY. THIS WORLD IS CRAZY AND SELFISH.

As long as you completely trust the other drive, don't let them drive the beauty.

If I was you, I would have punched him in the gut.

I got a tow home and I'm now troubleshooting in my garage. I'm going to do a compression test as soon as I get the right tool. At this point, I'm relatively sure that the timing belt was either stretched some or it was thrown off a tooth or two. Should I go ahead and tear the engine down to inspect my valves and retainers? There isn't any knocking in the engine. I'm planning on replacing the timing belt either way since the car has 75k miles on it.

Good luck in fixing it. I thought our engines use a timing chain not belt.

There is no timing belt on your car.
