Default Rattle

I'll describe this the best I can. Between 4-5k rpm's i get a rattleing sound coming from the compartment where the convertable top sits. (this only happens when the top is up) With the Top UP, looking at the space where the top rest, there are three panels, one long center panel and two side panels. Looking at it from the drivers seat, the noise is coming from the left(passenger side) panel. Has any one else had experience with this? My buddy pushed on the panel while i was driving and that seemed to cure it.

I had a rattle in the convertiable top as well. It turned out it was the seatbelt tensers. I guess where they roll up there is a screw in their or something. What ever it is rattles. I just taped some vibtration deadener over the seat belt casing and it stoped the rattle. Might want to check it out

i was just thinking about this subject also.. in mine, it sounds like it could be either of the two suggestions (seatbelt area or the back).. but i don't think mine occurs when at any particular rpm, but just when i hit a bumpy lenght of road

Mine is indirectly linked to the rpm. I think part of it is because of my exhaust. My really doesnt have anything to do with a bumpy road, i dont think.

I had all those panels out when I replaced the top. It's easy to see that they could rattle because they are not held tightly together. I have had a rattle from back there when going over certain bumps, my exhaust is stock.

In retrospect I think some foam tape between the overlapping part of those panels and where they rest on supports would help. I may do that some day when I have the time. I would use the soft top retrofit procedures for getting them out and back in. I'll add a link to those procedures when I get a chance.

Did you replace the top strikers w/ the hard top strikers? There's a TSB on that. Or maybe it's just those bumpy Bucks County roads.
