Default Really Bad Leakdown Test

So, My 2007 with 108,000 miles has recently become somewhat more difficult to start in cold weather and runs a little rough until it warms up.

I took it to a local dealership, who couldn't find anything wrong but decided to adjust the valves and do a leakdown test. The numbers were terrible, 70%, 55%, 65% , 5%.

They wanted to start tearing the car apart to remove the head and find the problem.

My question is with numbers this bad, would the car run at all? Is it possible that the guy did the test incorrectly?

Very possible.

I've seen even worse numbers on a motor that is still running. I would imagine you have many burnt valves and guides out of spec. If I can offer one piece of advice, stay away from the dealer. Contact someone like myself or Billman if he's closer to you and either one of us can have you fixed up correctly and not at dealer pricing.

It is very common for Drive By Wire S2000's (06+) to have tight exhaust valves causing them to burn, SO CHECK YOUR VALVES GUYS!

Can't go wrong with Jordan or Billman! I've had Jordan do a compression test, leakdown test and a shakedown of my S with great results. He is going to be installing a new clutch, PP and flywheel for me soon in preparation for my supercharger build. Two huge thumbs up for him working on your car!!!!

Those look similar to mine about 4 weeks go. I'm at 144k and the headgasket is leaking; but the vehicle ran fine.

After removing the head I discovered the exhaust valve seats were toast, as were the guides. I can attribute the bulk of the leak seeping thru the valve seats.

OK, it actually could be over tightened valves the got me worn valve seats. Since I live in the great northwest, AKA Seattle, where should I be taking it if not the dealer?
