I have been trying to do this for a while now. My rear axle nuts apear to be stuck on very good...
It helps to get the socket onto the nut absolutely straight. I used a 10' pipe on a 1/2" drive ratchet but supported the head of the ratchet with the OEM scissors jack. The jack had to be put on a brick to get about 2" more height but with the extra leverage and support the nut came off easily but with a sudden bang. There was light corrosion between the nut face and the hub which no doubt make it much harder to remove.
Using a jack stand was essential for me when removing the crank pulley bolt on a Civic because the extension was so long (20"?) compared to the breaker bar (24"). However, with this Billman was able to do it easily without support. You only need a little bit to clear the fender (4-6"), and his breaker bar was 40" long. So, 1:1 ratio, as opposed to 1:6-10. If it helps then more power to you, but it isn't always needed.

Will a IR titanium 1/2 in drive impact work good enough. I have a 30 gallon air compressor that's only about 90 psi.

There is no 12 o'clock. The axle and nut rotate with the wheel. If you take off the parking brake and put car in neutral, you can push it back and then on side will be at 9 o'clock and the other will be at 12 o'clock. The only reason that the stake mark appears at 12 o'clock in my pictures is because I rotated the images. If you look carefully in the very first image, you can see that the yellow line in not vertical. It goes from top left to bottom right.

It might be enough to take the nut off, but it probably don't be enough to tighten it up all the way. Some nuts are really hard to remove.

If rust is the issue maybe a penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster would help.

Maybe a truck repair shop can help you out. I'm sure they have some way to remove large fasteners. Here's one place that I found witch a quick search.

I have used liquid wrench.

Did you guys really use a 10foot pipe? that seems a little excessive.

Yes, even if you have the weaker 2135Ti. Crank up the regulator on the compressor as high as you can. Use at least 3/8" hose and a good 1/4" inlet. The IR has enough power to remove the axle nut, AND to tighten it, but you'll probably want to use a breaker bar/torque wrench for the final assembly.

No. Billman used a 40" telescoping ratchet on mine, but recently even he mentioned that he found a car where the nut was too tight for him to remove using that. 4-6' should be enough, but if there is some corrosion, it can be tough.

780 ft-lbs? That should take it off.
Then again on the side it only says 332 ft-lbs. As far as tightening, it says only 251 ft-lbs and skkppy said that he needed 380-400 ft-lbs.

Here it says 550 ft-lbs working torque.
