Rear Crank seal leaking! NEW Engine PLEASE HELP
Okay Guys, I just got threw rebuilding my F20C due to a dropped valve. Well the motor runs like a champ. I have been driving it for about 4 days now, occasionally checking for leaks, and fluid levels. Everything has been great up til today. I went on a 150 mile ride. when I got back home I checked everything and noticed engine oil was coming out the weep hole in the bottom of the tranny. It is Engine oil. I smelled it. Anyways I lost like 4 quarts of oil today. I had a minor rear crank leak prior to the rebuild and, So when the valve dropped I put a new gasket set in the motor. I figured that would take care of the oil leak I had before hand. Well now it is leaking horribly bad. I was loosing about a half quart every 2 weeks or so, and now I am loosing 4 quarts in 4 days.
So Can someone confirm for me the correct installation of the rear crank seal? I am positive that I put it in the correct way. but I just need to make sure. I put the bare metal side of the seal inwards towards the motor. is that correct??
I am in hopes i messed up the seal some how. but now I am getting a sicking feeling about a possible grooved crankshaft.
Please help

If the crank is grooved, you can get what's called a "wiper sleeve". They are made by Federal Mogul. Not by application, but by exact size dimensions.
Feel all around the crank surface with your finger, eyes will not do it. You'll feel any imperfections right away. A fine file can take down any high spots, then finish with fine emery cloth.
IF the damage is a low spot, and it rides directly on the seal, it will leak. In that case measure the crank with a micrometer and get a wiper sleeve. PM me sometime if you need dimensions as I have a few cranks in the garage.
