Default rear diff.

I am getting ready to replace my 2003 diff. housing with a 04-05 housing and am
going to have my gears (out of my 03) cryo treated. Is it a good idea or worth it
to cryo treat the new 04-05 housing and or any other parts related with diff.
Any help would be great. Just got a comptech s/c (if this info matters).

the weak point is the bearing caps. I don't think cryo treating is going to magically fix that. I'd get the comptech bearing caps put on it if you are going to abuse it.

Thumbs up

From my understanding of the process, it is supposed to make the components treated stronger. I guess my question is are the main caps the weak point or are
the cap bolts the weak point? I would guess if the main caps are the weak point then treating them would more than likely strengthen the set up, or if the bolts are
the weak point then would using studs (if possible) be a better idea. I would love to use comptechs caps and bolts but unfortunetly these parts are not available for sale (to my knowledge). I am putting this diff. together at a dealership I work at, so sending it out is going to cost more (trying to save some bucks). Anyone out there with any info would extremely helpfull.

I am located in northern Virginia, just outside of D.C. There is a place near here that does it and I am working on getting a price. I will let you know as soon as I find out, also one in N.C.-website is percryo.com. Trying to use the place closer to my house, for faster turn around.

I talked with Carroll at C&C performance today in Manassas Va. he has someone locally who will do the diff. housing, ring and pinion for about 150-175. Once Honda calls me to let me know all parts are here I'm going to send it out. Anyone in NOVA area interested pm me.

Just talked to one of my techs here at the shop and was told even with the comptech main caps and arp bolts. The housing still has to be line bored so the caps match the housing. Now wondering if just staying with 04-05 housing and cryo treatment are the wat to go at this point. Also anyone know what size difference there is between the mugen header versus the a-j racing header or which one is better?
