you answered your own question. the caps have to be line bored to match the housing, which is why you can't buy just the caps and studs. however, this is why they offer the core exchange.

Just talked to one of my techs here at the shop and was told even with the comptech main caps and arp bolts. The housing still has to be line bored so the caps match the housing. Now wondering if just staying with 04-05 housing and cryo treatment are the wat to go at this point. Also anyone know what size difference there is between the mugen header versus the a-j racing header or which one is better?
before there's confusion... the comptech caps and bolts cannot be purchased on their own... they come with a stock (used) forward housing, reinforced end caps, and new ARP bolts.

its available on a core return...so you have to return your forward housing and endcaps to them... your tech is correct, the caps and housing cannot be mixed.

ricks2k.com sells the forward housing and comptech reinforced caps/bolts for $399.

i have an '01. if you already have the 04 housing, perhaps cryo'ing that will yield a similar strength as cryo'ing the comptech housing... however i have NO information regarding how strong an '04 housing is compared to a comptech reinforced housing....

but cryo'ing either one or just the caps/bolts should make it stronger...

Thanks guys I guess I will stick with my current plan of building the 04-05 diff. Anyone figure out what the difference in size, the a-j racing header versus the mugen header.
