I'm not sure if this is just the way the car is, its not a huge noise or clunk but when i stop then shift into first it clunks in the rear end. Then if i take it out and put it back in it's fine and makes no noise.Then i shift into second and it makes a noise again. Problem to worry about down the road or just the way a pumpkin normally sounds? had the car for a few days and never daily'd a rear wheel drive car before. is this normal?

 

Uhm, thats just the sound of your gears engaging. If not, I do not know

 

At first this sounded normal but, if it is doing it in every gear then that is an issue. Basically when your sitting at a stop and you engage the transmission back into gear you will sometimes here a clunk sound. What this is, is the trans and rear coming in sink with each other. As you go through the gears the operation should be smooth and noise free. If you are hearing a clunk every time you go into the next gear then there is something not right.
