Replaced with a complete new diff or just rebuilt? If rebuilt, it may have not been put together correctly. This can be a common cause of diff noises.

A loose spindle nut does not cause the CV joint to go bad. The loose spindle nut noise is similar to the one described by allenheathdj, and is due to the splined shaft shifting in the hub.

A ticking noise when slowing or accelerating is more typically a loose spindle nut, clicking or clunking while turning, especially slowly at high steering angles, is often the CV joint.
