I got the new S2000 RMS in this weekend. I wiped a film of oil on the crankshaft before I put it in as well as putting a few drops of oil on the RMS itself, in the v-shaped groove, then rotated it to let the oil coat the RMS, as well, on top of the grease.
I think having the K24 driver tool on hand was worth it, to take the guess work out of it. Just bottom it out on the end of the crankshaft and be done.
I got distracted by a little bit of "while you're in there," which made the job take a bit longer. I decided since I was going to have to remove the vacuum block to get to the starter bolt and remove the transmission, I should take the opportunity to add a way to put one of my catch cans (PCV) under vacuum, instead of venting to atmosphere, and could improve my brake booster check valve (Alibaba special) at the same time. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday fighting to squeeze it back in. Not that crank case pressure had anything to do with this failure, but I figured it was worth it for the piston rings, at least.
Not the prettiest but still an improvement, I think.
Got everything put back together and took a quick drive before dinner last night. So far, no evidence of an oil leak today.
