rear mount turbo system
Hello,
I have been reading about rear mounted turbos (http://ststurbo.com/benefits) and it seems like an interesting and fresh (at least i've never heard of this application) idea. It seems as a fairly inexpensive and easier to install alternative--or maybe I'm just buying into the marketing they have on website.
My concerns are be turbo lag, filter element placement and available free space to stick all the piping and the turbo in rear. The length of piping is probably the same as if you were to add an intercooler, also there is less bends in pipe which would provide less resistance--maybe less or same lag as standard front engine placement application. I don't like how the filter element is placed in rear--prone to pick up more dirt--but the air would be much cooler there (again, maybe) and it could possible be shielded to avoid the issue. I've noticed that their applications are for large motors, maybe there is a reason.
What are your opinions, feel like there is a future to this type of turbo system? I think it looks promising.
