It's probably pitted inner CV joints if the vibration goes away under decel.

Interesting. What causes the pitting?

There is a TSB covering the issue, It's common enough they issued a TSB.

Do you have any idea what causes the pitting? If it's a common problem I'd suspect a defective batch of CV joints. ??? Or does it happen to all our cars after a time?

It's more common on the 00-01 cars, but they also have the most miles and wear. Possible metallurgical issue, but I can't say with any certainty.

Good info, Slow. This will keep me from thinking (right off the bat) that my diff is going out when (and if) my inner CV joints develop this problem.

I've seen pitted CV joint balls before and it has always been related to a damaged boot, so I would have probably had a hard time diagnosing this properly. Thanks!

do you feel the vibration when accelerating in a straight line or during hard corners only?
