REBUILD?
Hey guys! I have been having problems with my ap1. Long story short, the cause which i believe it was is that i got water into the Head. My cold air intake was sucking in water. I have had the CEL and codes P0302(misfire on cyl 2) and p1399(multiple misfires)I got a compression test done and cylinder #2 is just about 70 lb less comp than the other cylinders. I got a leakdown test perfomed. point being he told me that piston #2 comes out 1/8 out less than the others. He couldn't really see if it was a bent rod when he stuck the camera down the block (that is what he said). He informed that most likely it is a rod that is slightly bent. The only way to really find out the exact problem is to open the block. My way of thinking is if i decide to open the block i might as well just replace everything, the car is about to have 92k miles and my intentions are to go forced induction. Or if i should just by an JDM F20c. I have a cousin who is a mechanic and he is willing to rebuild my block at no cost for labor. Right now i am leaning towards just rebuilding the block. My goal is to push out 400 WHP max. I know that the stock block is capable of handling that much hp. As far as reliablity goes though, would you guys recommend me going with aftermarket piston, rods, etc. or should i just stick to all stock?Any input will help me greatly
Thanks!
Thanks!
Well my question is should i rebuild my engine with aftermarket parts (forged pistons, rods, etc..) so it would be capable and SAFE to run 400whp (although i know the stock block is capable of doing so)? Or should i just swap in a JDM F20C motor in? And if i should rebuild, wat is a good setup to run to achieve those numbers with forced induction? Any help would be appreciated!!
I'm definitely not an expert on the F20c, but if you're running enough boost to reach 400rwhp (12-14 lb
), it's going to put stress on your engine. If you drive a good bit and do it with "spirit," then you are going to be stressing the engine more. If your cousin is willing to do the work, it is probably cheaper to buy performance pistons, rods, etc. than swapping in a JDM f20c. You would rather spend more on an engine that you don't have a good history on and may blow up than you would for a freshly built F20c? With the engine built out, you can up the boost and reach that 500 rwhp down the road if you get bored with 400rwhp.
I truly do not understand why you are even considering an engine swap.

Thanks for the input....yea i think i would be going down that road. But the problem is that right now i would only have the funds to rebuild the whole engine, and if i wanted to go turbo and achieve those numbers, wouldn't i have to get some low compression pistons? And would it be safe to run that compression without turbo as i wont have the funds to drop in the turbo right away?
You should ask this in the FI forum. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=142 You will get some great input! Good luck with your build! Built engines are awesome!
You don't see many in S2k's.
