Default Rebuild intake valve?

hi everybody,

i'm not too savvy when it comes to engines so please excuse the stupidity if i say anything that doesn't make sense.

basically, cyl 1 on my AP2 is showing very low compression, i think the mechanic said 100 or so. the mechanic investigated and concluded that the intake valve is bad. he says he needs to rebuild the cylinder head in order to fix it. he said something about taking some things apart and sending certain parts to the machine shop.

my question is... how much should this job cost? and also, for those of you who understand what's broken, can you tell me in more detail what's wrong and what the fix is? thanks everybody.

The job is going to depend on their hourly rate, since it's a lot of labor. I always recommend a 2nd opinion for major repairs.

Expect 4-7 hrs labor to R&R the cylinder head. Depends how s2k savoy the guy is.

The head itself contains 16 valves, 4 for each cylinder. 8 intakes, 8 exhausts.

While the head is off, all valves should be inspected for straightness, pitting, and vac tested when installed in the head.

Basically, the Cylinder head (top half of the engine that contains the valves) will go to the machine shop for valve replacement, valve seat recon if needed, and testing.

You can PM me if you like....where do you live?

Basically, I'd have an AP2 mint cyl head here and ready to go.

None of this "my cars been in the shop for 4 weeks getting engine work".

Come in the morning, watch and learn, drive home in the afternoon.
